Itinerary
Your journey begins with your arrival in Mandawa, a charming town in the heart of Rajasthan’s Shekhawati region, often referred to as the “Open Art Gallery of Rajasthan.” Upon arrival, check-in at a heritage haveli hotel or boutique property reflecting traditional Rajasthani architecture. After a brief rest and lunch, embark on a guided walking tour of Mandawa, famous for its elaborately painted havelis (merchant mansions). You’ll visit stunning structures such as the Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, Murmuria Haveli, and Jhunjhunwala Haveli, all showcasing intricate frescoes depicting mythological themes, colonial-era influences, and everyday village life. Stroll through the narrow lanes, visit local artisans, and enjoy a peaceful evening at your hotel. After breakfast, check out and drive to Mahansar, a lesser-known gem in Shekhawati, located about 25 km from Mandawa. Mahansar is a quaint village known for its blend of art, architecture, and heritage wines. On arrival, check in to a traditional homestay or eco-hotel run by local families. Begin your exploration with a visit to the Sone Chandi ki Dukaan (Golden Room), a small yet spectacular haveli known for its dazzling gold-leaf frescoes and mirror work—a rare treasure even in the richly painted Shekhawati region. Later, enjoy a guided tour of the Mahansar heritage wine-making unit, where you can learn about and taste the locally brewed Mahansar Heritage Liquor, made using traditional Ayurvedic herbs and recipes dating back to the royal era. In the evening, walk through the village, visit a local temple or school, and enjoy cultural interaction with villagers. You may opt for a camel cart ride through the dunes outside the village. After breakfast, check out and begin your drive to Bhilwara, located approximately 5–6 hours away. Bhilwara, known as the “Textile City of Rajasthan,” offers a different side of Rajasthani heritage, blending trade, royalty, and devotion. Upon arrival, check in to a comfortable hotel or palace-style resort. In the afternoon, explore the Meja Dam, a scenic spot popular for its natural beauty and migratory birds. Then head to Harni Mahadev Temple, a sacred hilltop shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, offering panoramic views of Bhilwara. If time permits, visit a local textile factory or showroom to learn about the region’s world-famous fabric production—especially suitings and printed textiles that are exported globally. In the evening, stroll through the Bhilwara city market or relax at your hotel. Enjoy a well-prepared dinner featuring a mix of local and North Indian cuisine. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning exploring Mandalgarh Fort, located around 50 km from Bhilwara. This lesser-known fort is rich in history, once a stronghold of the Mewar dynasty and a witness to many historical battles. You may also visit Badnore Fort or nearby Menal Waterfalls (seasonal), known for their scenic beauty and ancient temples. Return to Bhilwara by early afternoon. After lunch, check out and proceed to your onward destination—either by train or road—concluding a diverse and enriching tour of Shekhawati’s art towns and Bhilwara’s royal heritage.
